Director's Update 5.29.20

posted May 29, 2020, 5:42 AM by Kurt Dronebarger
Hello everyone,
The 2019-20 school year is officially in the books. It was certainly not the ending we expected but I was proud of how we all (families included) handled the changes. WCHS graduation will be held on June 15th. Currently, each graduate is allotted 4 tickets for visitors. This restriction is based on current CDC guidelines and will be monitored and adjusted as more information is offered. At this moment, I do not have any definitive answers concerning the start of school for next year. However, I am meeting weekly with superintendents from the Upper Cumberland and we are creating three separate plans. Plan A is a normal return to school. Plan B is a hybrid of on-site and at-home learning where the students would only come to school a couple of days per week. Plan C is a fully online version of school that would provide more devices and connectivity for families in need and more direct instruction from teachers with recorded lessons, video calls with students, and teacher (not a parent) directed learning. Again, nothing is in stone and we will adapt our plan as we receive more information from state agencies. For now, please listen for phone calls and other information from your child's school. It would also be helpful if students took advantage of the summer reading and learning opportunities that have been provided. If you have any questions, please reach out to your school team (email might be best). Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. We all want to get back to normal and I pray that will happen soon. Please enjoy your summer break and stay well.
