Parents may homeschool their own children pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated 49-6-3050. The Tennessee Department of Education requires that parents notify the local school system of the intention to homeschool.
The TN Promise application for the Class of 2026 is now open! If your student is a high school senior who will graduate during the 2025–2026 school year, they are now eligible to apply for TN Promise—Tennessee’s last-dollar scholarship that provides two years of tuition-free attendance at a community college or TCAT.
Important Deadlines:
TN Promise Application Deadline: November 3, 2025
FAFSA Submission Deadline (for TN Promise eligibility): April 1, 2026
Students must also complete all TN Promise program requirements, including attending a mandatory meeting and completing eight hours of community service by the deadline established by their partnering organization.
