Paid Parental Leave

Beginning May 11, 2023, eligible White County School employees can take up to six work weeks of leave with pay for the birth of the employee’s child or the placement of a child with the employee for adoption.  This leave with pay will not count against the employee’s accrued sick or annual leave balances.  The leave will run concurrently with Family Medical Leave.  


Paid Parental Leave is available to full-time employees who have been employed at least 12 consecutive months with a TN Public School System.

Employees must provide Human Resources with at least thirty (30) days’ notice in advance of the first day of leave.  If the employee learns of the birth or adoption less than thirty (30) days in advance, they shall give notice as soon as reasonably possible.
